A Breif History of Bits and Bytes Training Institute

Bits and Bytes Computer Training Centre was established for the purpose of providing effective microcomputer education for the "novice user" at one beginning of the technical spectrum to the "expert user" at the highly knowledgeable end of the spectrum. Training was first provided in the living room of its founder's home in the fall of 1984. However, to meet the needs of a larger, and steady growing population, on June 3, 1985, Bits and Bytes Computer Training Centre opened its doors to the community at 56 South 65th Street, Suite #1, Belleville, Illinois 62223.

In May of 1986, the Centre established a working relationship with a Government Agency in an effort to train and evaluate, or retrain individuals whose existing skills did not qualify them for employment in the new automated offices.

In March of 1998, a child care center was added to assist out clients with their childcare needs during their training. With this additional space, the facility increased to 7400 square feet.

In August of 1988, the Centre moved into its present location at 7705 West Main Street Suite #7, Belleville, Illinois 62223 and occupied 1800 square feet of space. By September of 1990, the Centre experienced another growth in its clientele and expanded its operating space to 5600 square feet.

Finally, in January of 1999, the Centre seized the opportunity to acquire the entire building located at 7705 West Main Street. This additional space increased the square footage of our training Centre to 11,900.

The Institute is located on a major bus line connecting Belleville, East St. Louis and Metro Link Transportation services to St. Louis. The complex is on one level, therefore, making it easily accessible to the disabled.

Also, within two miles of the Institute, there are several eating establishments, banks, service stations, shopping facilities, a post office, and a hospital for your convenience.
